About Us

Built to Hold

Lobos Landscape & Hardscaper is a family-run, Latino-owned crew working out of Cleveland, Tennessee. What we are really known for is the heavy end of landscaping — segmental retaining walls, paver patios and walkways, stacked stone columns — the work that needs a machine, a base and somebody who knows what the ground is going to do.

Between them our crew brings over ten years on the tools, building for homeowners and businesses across Cleveland, Chattanooga, Athens, Dayton and Dunlap. Some of it is a seat wall around a fire pit in a back yard. Some of it is tiered block running the length of an apartment site with a telehandler setting the courses. We run our own skid steer and telehandler, so the digging, the hauling and the building are all the same crew.

Estimates are free, we answer the phone, and we would rather tell you the base needs another day of work than stack block on top of something that is going to move. Call and we will come look at the actual job instead of guessing over the phone.

Frequently Asked

Do you charge for an estimate?
No. Estimates are free and we come to you — Cleveland, Chattanooga, Athens, Dayton, Dunlap and the towns in between. We look at the actual job instead of quoting a number over the phone.
How long does a retaining wall take?
A small seat wall is usually a day or two. A tall wall with geogrid and a lot of excavation can run one to two weeks depending on access and weather. We give you the schedule with the estimate, and if the ground turns out different than it looked, you hear about it the same day.
Why do some retaining walls lean out after a few years?
Almost always water and base. If there is no drainage stone and no outlet behind a wall, rain saturates the soil, that soil gets about twice as heavy, and it pushes the wall out. If the leveling pad was not compacted down to solid ground, it goes the other way and settles. Both problems are built in on day one and neither one is fixable later without taking the wall apart.
What is geogrid and do I need it?
It is a structural mesh laid in layers between the block courses and running back into the slope, so the wall and the soil behind it hold together as one mass instead of the wall trying to hold the hill by itself. Short walls generally do not need it. Once you get real height on a wall it is not optional, and it cannot be added after the fact.
Do you do pavers and concrete, or just one?
Pavers. Patios, walkways, driveway aprons and the borders and steps around them. We are not a concrete company — if a job really wants a poured slab we will tell you that instead of selling you pavers.
Can you do the planting and the sod too, or just the hardscape?
Both, and it is cheaper together, because the machine and the crew are already on site and the beds have to be graded anyway. Most of our jobs finish with beds, mulch and sod going in behind the wall or the patio.
How far do you travel?
About 50 miles out from Cleveland. That covers Chattanooga and all of Hamilton County including Ooltewah, Hixson, Soddy-Daisy, Apison, Red Bank and Birchwood, plus Athens, Dayton, Dunlap, Benton, Decatur and Ocoee, and across the line into Dalton and Ringgold, Georgia. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call and ask.
